Pressure Cooker Apple-Cinnamon Steel-Cut Oats

NOTE: This makes a HUGE batch. If making for one or two people, half the recipe to last a couple of days.

3 cups organic steel-cut oats
7 cups water
2 T. cinnamon
½ cup unsweetened apple butter OR 12 oz. of unsweetened organic applesauce OR or one apple peeled and chopped or grated
Top with fresh fruit, cinnamon, walnuts, ground flaxseed, etc.

Pressure Cooker Instructions:
Put oats and water in your pressure cooker. If using chopped or grated apples, add in now. Cook for 4 minutes with NATURAL release. Then, stir well. Add in cinnamon, applesauce/apple butter if using instead of grated or chopped apple. Stir to combine. Store in a tightly-closed container in the fridge. Heat in microwave.

  1. A dear friend has lent me one of her instant pots for a couple of weeks to try it out. I have this oatmeal in the pot right now! I can't wait to see how it turns out. I usually eat fruit in the morning, but my husband likes to eat oatmeal. He will be the real judge!

    1. Please let me know! Also, you might try the Corn and Potato Chowder under the SOUPS section. It is an awesome pressure cooker recipe that only cooks for 4 minutes!

  2. How much is 1/2 jar of applesauce? Applesauce comes in quite a few sizes at my grocery store.
